Meet Stella: The New Part-Time Research Assistant at NUS-HCI Lab!

My name is MAO Yaxuan Stella, and I’m an undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. As a student in this field, I’ve developed a deep interest in the area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), particularly with regards to Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), wearable devices, and service design.

What fascinates me about this field is how design choices and physical characteristics of robots can affect users’ perceptions, emotions, and interactions with robots. I believe that understanding the psychological aspects of HRI is essential for creating successful human-robot interaction systems. By exploring this area, I hope to contribute to the development of user-centered and socially responsible designs for HRI.

In addition to the psychological aspects of HRI, I’m also interested in the social implications of human-robot interactions. As robots become increasingly integrated into society, it’s crucial to understand their impact on social norms and trust in technology. By investigating these issues, I hope to contribute to the creation of more positive and inclusive human-robot interactions.
